Muscle Energy Techniques

Muscle Energy Techniques (METs): aimed especially to improve range of motions of a joint, muscular hypotonicity (tight muscle due to spacicity) and pain. This condition may be as a result of an overused  muscle which looses its elasticity thus altering the posture, and can become irritated and painful. Muscle Energy Techniques can be employed to reposition a dysfunctional joint and treat the affected musculature.

METs are ideal for conditions such as:

  • muscular shortening
  • low back pain
  • pelvic imbalance
  • edema
  • limited range of motion
  • somatic dysfunction
  • respiratory dysfunction
